Fulvias age like any other car model and after more than 20 years it is likely that there is rust in them. Doors are not necessarily the prime concern and, in any case, the rust there is only cosmetic. Much more important is to inspect very carefully the car underneath, paying particular attention to the subframe and its rear mounts to the floorpan, the floorpan itself, the areas where the rear leafsprings are bolted, thepetrol tank area inside the luggage compartment, and the sills under the doors. All these areas can have important consequences for the car structure and safety and should thus be rust free or repaired effectively.

Check all these points by jacking up the car with a strong hydraulic jack and securing it on axle stands. As you jack up the car from the center of the front crossmember (near the radiator) listen for any noise coming from strained metal parts. Use a screwdriver, a magnet and a strong battery light to look and prod around the above mentioned areas. Lift carpets completely and examine the corresponding internal parts. A tale-telling sign is to see a crack at the top of the front wheel arches: this indicates a problem with the rear subframe mount. Damage can often be repaired with success but the question of cost should be considered. Best of luck.
